Autschbach-Saygili

Duo Peter Autschbach & Samira Saygili

On December 14, 2019, Samira Saygili and Peter Autschbach won the first prize in the "Best Singer" category and an award in the special category "Best Guitarist" with the song "Holobiont" (music: Peter Autschbach, lyrics: Samira Saygili) at the event "Deutscher Rock und Pop Preis" (German Rock and Pop prize).

A press review of a concert reads: "Before the summer season the duo Autschbach/Saygili went down a storm. The big surprise wasn't Peter Autschbach, though he obviously has quite a crowd of fans in the area who alone formed an impressingly huge audience even without widely spreaded advertising. Of him one was to expect guitar playing extraordinaire, chamber music-like tightness, polyphone transparence with masterly improvisations, and yes, sound fetishism. His baritone guitar and the tones he delivers with that instrument makes one go into extasies.

Crystal clear in higher positions, full and huge sounding in mids and basses Autschbach built the ground for the big surprise of the evening: Samira Saygili. While the oriental-sounding name of the young German-Turkish vocalist associates sensual pleasure, the expressional ability of her enormous voice in addition to her stage presence is a revelation.

After stops at the state theater in Karlsruhe (classical singing), Maastricht (Bachelor of arts) and New York ("Jazz 'till you drop") Saygili found a highly expressive but natural style of singing which literally goes under one's skin. "Moanin", "Cheek to Cheek", "Sophisticated Lady" and other popular standards offered well tried, recognizeable material as well as innovative re-arrangements and unique interpretations of both Saygili and Autschbach. Especially with the second set both easily managed to pinch their audience by exuberant passion for playing. Numerous encores closed this Jazz evening which could be matter for addiction."
